Kinsley's Surgery

After many cases of strep thoat and her not getting any relief, Kinsley's pediatrician and ENT recommended having her tonsils and adenoids removed.  Poor girl had 4 episodes of strep in 2011, once in 2012, 5 times in 2013 and and 4 times in the fall between September and October in 2014.  Poor baby could not get well between strep and mono! It was time to get those bad boys out of there. Surgery was set for November 18th. She was so nervous but yet so brave!
All checked in!

Tieg is so good about walking our babies back to the operating room, so he was dressed and ready.  He knows I couldn't handle it so he takes one for the team.

Sweet girl got a toy from the closet for taking her medicine.
Off she goes.  This is when momma lost it.
Goodbye tonsils, infection, and antibiotics!
She did great during surgery and the doctor said that her tonsils looked pretty beat up with chronic infection.
Poor baby woke up and was ready to go home.

She rested some more and had a special visitor come see her!
After about an hour, it was time to go home!
All smiles on the car ride home!
 Now for the recovery!
Lots of rest, love and pain meds!

She handled recovery like a champ and never complained! We stayed on top of her pain meds for seven days and then switched to Motrin. She ate a lot of sherbet, ice cream and macaroni & cheese.  She followed doctor's orders and stayed hydrated.  She was a wonderful patient.  Day 5 was the worst day when the scabs were coming off and she was uncomfortable. She never complained of pain, just wanted us close by.
Kinsley read all of the literature that the ENT gave us about her surgery.  I really think that this helped prepare herself for what was ahead.  I am so glad that we had a good experience and that the surgery is behind us.  Hoping and praying that she can stay healthy!
