Sissy's Boo Boo

Kinsley went with Ella to a karate party and was playing when she collided with two boys that were running full speed.  I got a call from Jennifer saying that she had a goose egg on her head, but I wasn't prepared to see just how bad she was when she got home.
Poor Baby! I immediately checked with my neuro nurse friend and she told me to watch for vomiting. She never got sick but was lethargic and had a bad headache.
Sunday morning her eyes started turning purple.
 Sunday night she got worse.

Monday morning she was still swollen and bruising progressed.  I sent her to school just thinking it was external injuries, and never gave a thought to brain trauma.
Monday night she was much worse, so I texted a picture to my pediatrician just to make sure I was doing everything I could to help her.  The doctor immediately texted me back and said that she needed to see Kinsley the next day. I started to panic and worried that I had overlooked something.
Tuesday was picture day at school, so I did my best with concealing the bruising.
Poor girl was still so swollen.
At the doctor's office on Tuesday. Jennifer couldn't get a good feel of Kinsley's bones because of the swelling, so she sent us to Scottish Rite for a CT Scan to check the bones and brain.

Going in for the scan. She did so good! I could tell she was a little nervous but she handled it like a champ!
Waiting on the results. . .
Results showed that there were no fractures in her face. Praise the Lord! She had suffered a bad concussion so the doctor recommended taking days off from school to let the brain rest and recover.

Wednesday . . .
Thursday . . .

Poor baby took naps Wednesday and Thursday while she was home. So glad she could rest and recover.
Friday . . .
She went back to school but came home after a few hours because her head hurt.
You can still see the knot there.

Saturday . . .

Sunday . . .
It has taken a good three weeks for her to get better.  She just hasn't been our joyful, bouncing, energetic little girl! Her grades have slipped in school because she says she just can't think! She was having a hard time recalling information and seemed confused. Thankfully her grades have come up and school work is getting better. The doctors say it could take up to a full 6 weeks for her to feel back to normal. Concussions are no joke and I am so thankful that it wasn't more serious! She is one tough cookie!
