Pregnancy Update

Well I made it to 38 weeks this time around! The longest I have ever carried a baby!
My doctor was really cautious with me with my history and started watching me closely around 26 weeks. I started having contractions at week 35 and went to the doctor and was dilated to 2 cms and 50% effaced. I was told that the baby weighed around 5 lbs and could come any day. Panic set in and tears started flowing as I wasn't ready. I started preparing the kids each day in case something happened. I stressed every night in getting things ready to go in case it was the time to head to the hospital. I continued to contract over the next week and was pretty uncomfortable. I headed to the doctor at 36 weeks and was told the same information - 2 cms. Same thing went on for the next week and I was so ready to head to the hospital after night after night of contracting. I would contract for about an hour or so with contractions 5 minutes apart and then suddenly they would stop. I went back to the doctor at 37 weeks and once again was told that I was still 2 cms. I was getting pretty discouraged and prepared myself for the long haul of the rest of the pregnancy. I continued to contract but it was never long enough to head to the hospital. Here I am at 38 weeks.

At 38 weeks and 3 days, I had prepared myself to be told the same information of 2 centimeters when I went back to the doctor. I went on February 13th to find that I was now FOUR centimeters! Woohoo! The doctor predicted the baby weighed around 7 lbs. I have said all along that I would make it to 38 weeks because Grayson weighed 6 lbs. at 36 weeks, Kinsley weighed 7 lbs at 37 weeks so I was thinking 8 lbs. at 38 weeks for this babe. The doctor sent me home and told me to come in at any sign of labor, because with my history I would go pretty fast. I called my mom and she came home with me to help prepare the kids for school the next day and to get things in place if the baby were to make his arrival.

I immediately came home and delivered the kids' valentines to their class so that was one more thing that was taken care of. Have I told you how much I LOVE their teachers! We came home and packed their bags and Valentine goodies from us and delivered the kids to Jen and Chuck's house for the night. The kids were thrilled to have a spend the night on a school night. Jen took great care of them and made their Valentine morning special!
