At the end of the meeting, Karla and I scored a camo masonic hat from the very nice man sitting next to us, who said the meeting would only take about twenty minutes and it lasted an hour and fifteen minutes! At the end of the meeting, Karla and I were joking with him and told him that we were going to buy him a watch and he said he would make it up to us and get us a hat!! We had a good time and it was great to see my dad receive his service award!

Dad's Mason Honor
A few weeks ago, my dad received an award for serving for 25 years as a Mason! He was at the lodge to give a Proclamation for the Grand Master Mason for the state of Georgia. The grand master mason is in charge of all of the masonic lodges in the state of Georgia. There are 414 lodges and he tries to visit each one, but since there are 365 days in a year and lodges only meet Monday-Saturday, it is impossible for him to be at each lodge. Therefore, it was a big deal for him to be in Lawrenceville. As the mayor of Lawrenceville, Dad gave a Proclamation for having the grand master visit. Dad was unaware that he would be receiving an award from this man as well. The whole family surprised dad by showing up to see him get his 25 year pin. It is rare to be allowed into the masonic lodge, but this day was a day for the community to visit. It was great to see how dedicated these men are to helping their community! Dad was quite surprised to find out that he would be receiving his pin and I was so glad to be there to share in his accomplishment!
