Grayson's Party

What a special day! We celebrated Grayson’s 4th birthday today! Where have the last four years gone? It blows my mind how fast time goes by! He wanted a super hero party with pony rides and that is just what he got! He had such a good time with his friends and enjoyed his day! It amazes me to see how much he changes from each party every year. This year, he would actually look at each of the cards on the gift, turn it upside down and say who the gift was from. I guess he would know by the kids telling him it was from them, because most of the time he was right. After he would rip the gift open and see what it was, he would make sure to say thank you! Which made me very proud!

Here are a couple of stories from last week and today. . .
Last week, Grayson attended a summer camp. When I picked him up one afternoon, they had just gotten done playing on the mats in the gym and his shoes were off. So, I picked him up to carry him to the car. I said, “Oh my goodness you are getting so heavy buddy.” He then looked at me and said, “I’m getting so big. I’m not your baby anymore.” My heart dropped and my eyes filled with tears, and I said, “Grayson, you will always be my baby.”

Today we were cleaning up from the birthday bash and Grayson had gone outside. I went out a few minutes later and I saw him looking up at the sky. When I looked up and saw two balloons floating away, I asked him, “Why did you let the balloons go?” He looked at me and said, “So they could go to heaven.” What a tender moment. It was so sweet and definitely a moment that showed me how much he is growing up!

Tonight at bedtime, we were talking about his day and his party. I asked him what his favorite part of his day was and he said opening presents. He then asked me what my favorite part was, and I told him that I enjoyed watching him have a good time and that I liked his cake since it was something special that I made just for him. He threw his arms around my neck and said, “Thank you Mommy!” It made the four hours I spent making his cake totally worth it!!

Where has the time gone? My precious little boy with such a free spirit is getting so big! I want him to stay little. I want to protect him from the world. I want to capture every moment that I hear, “Will you play with me mommy?” I want to raise him so he will know right from wrong. I want him to have a strong faith in the Lord. I want him to be a great friend, brother, husband, and father.

I love you little man! You changed my life four years ago and will always be my little buddy!
