Four Years Ago Today
Four years ago today was one of the scariest days of my life. I was 33 weeks pregnant and woke up with complications and severe back pain. I immediately called my doctor and they told me to come in. I then called close friends to ask for prayers. I was scared to death that I was losing the baby. My mom was great and headed out to help me. The interesting part is that Tieg was out on a golf course in North Carolina. It was a big deal to him because he was playing at Pinehurst where the U.S. Open was played. I tried to call him but couldn't get in touch with him or the guys he was playing with. After some help from friends, the golf course employees were able to locate him and informed him of what was going on. He was on hole number 16 and rushed to be by my side. I got to the hospital and was in pre-term labor and was making progress. They gave me medicine to stop the contractions and steroids to help the baby's lungs develop since we didn't know the gender of the baby. We finally got Tieg on the phone around 11 am and the midwife told him the situation and said everything was going to be fine. He of course was already on his way. I had to stay overnight and then was sent home on bedrest. I was not allowed to walk up the steps to our bedroom so I stayed on the main level in the guest bed and could only go from the bed to the couch. I had to take medication around the clock every 4 hours to keep the contractions under control. It was difficult waking myself up to take the medicine, but I guess it helped prepare me for what was to come. I was on bedrest for three weeks and then was ready to let things happen on their own . . . and they definitely did! I slowly quit taking the meds and my little bundle of joy was born two days later at 36 weeks. He has a been a ball of fire ever since!
